 Title: Optomechanical systems: cooling and detecting in quantum regime 

Abstract: Opto-mechanical systems have been studied intensively during the past several years. The current interest of the field is to cooling

the nano-mechanical oscillators down to the quantum regime. When cooled to the quantum region, this system has many potential applications, such as for mechanical sensors, precision measurements, or quantum information processing. The system is also a good testbed for quantum-classical mechanics transition. The nano-mechanical oscillators can be coupled to the cavity modes in optical resonators and cooled through the sideband laser cooling. I summarize some of my works on cooling opto-mechanics and and detecting ultra-small motion near the quantum regime.
